| Event Description: | The Smith-Gilbert Garden is located in Kennesaw, Georgia. Comprised of sixteen serene acres with a blend of art, history, and plant material, the Garden is a pleasant combination of interests. One of the multiple Garden aspects is Plant-a-Row, an area lovingly maintained by Cobb County Master Gardeners and other stalwart volunteers. Last year, this group grew and donated over 3,700 pounds of fresh vegetables to needy families in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Our project this year will be to replace the current irrigation system with a modern and efficient system. Various zones featuring drip irrigation, high efficiency heads and expert design will allow the garden staff to meet the water needs of different crops while serving as a model for the gardens many visitors.
