NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LAWN CARE AND LANDSCAPE
MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS LAUNCHES NATIONAL
DAY OF SERVICE ON EARTH DAY, APRIL 22, 2009

HERNDON, Va., February 3, 2009 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announces that it will launch its first annual nationwide PLANET Day of Service for the lawn care and landscape management industry on Earth Day, April 22, 2009.

PLANET already organizes a very successful day of service called Renewal & Remembrance, which takes place each summer at Arlington National Cemetery and the Historic Congressional Cemetery. This event brings together lawn care, landscape management, and tree experts to maintain and beautify the grounds of these two important national landmarks.

“Our day of service in our nation’s capital has been so successful that we wanted to do something that had an impact in communities across the country,” said Jason Cupp, CLP, PLANET president. “We want to share the message that everyone can be a caretaker of their green spaces.”

The annual PLANET Day of Service will allow association members and other partners in the lawn care and landscape management profession to create projects in their own communities where the need is greatest.

“We look forward to seeing hundreds of lawn and landscape projects taking place simultaneously all over the country on April 22,” said Cupp.

The Lead Sponsors for the 2009 PLANET Day of Service are Agrium Advanced Technologies; American Profit Recovery, Inc.; JOHN DEERE; Lawns by Yorkshire Inc.; and Shindaiwa.

PLANET is the association of members who create and maintain the QUALITY OF LIFE in communities across America. With more than 4,200 member companies and affiliates, these firms and their employees represent more than 100,000 green industry professionals.
